The drug Abirakast (Abirakast) 250 mg with the active substance abiraterone is a drug aimed at combating prostate cancers in the last stages.
This remedy slows down the biosynthesis of androgens and an enzyme that is directly involved in their production. Abiraterone lowers the concentration of male sex hormones (including testosterone). Due to this, the malignant tumor stops growing, and subsequently gradually decreases in size. The use of Abiraterone acetate in the treatment of patients with prostate cancer was approved in 2011.
structure:
Abirakast is an Indian generic of the original American medicine. The manufacturer is the Natco/Aprazer pharmaceutical plant. It has the same efficiency, but it costs less. Generics from India allow many patients to receive treatment.
One tablet of Abirakast contains 250 mg of abiraterone. The tablets themselves are oval in shape and convex on both sides. There are 120 pieces in each package of medicine.
INDICATIONS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR USE:
Abiraterone is prescribed to patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. The drug is used if previous therapy did not bring results and the disease began to progress. The drug is forbidden to take in the following cases:
Underage age.
Serious abnormalities in the liver and kidneys.
If the patient has recently suffered a heart attack.
Female gender.
With caution, Abirakast is prescribed to patients who do not tolerate high blood pressure, have lactose intolerance or adrenal insufficiency.
Abirakast, like all abiraterone-based drugs, is not intended for use by women. If her sexual partner takes this antitumor drug, doctors recommend using contraception both during therapy and for three months after its completion.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE :
As a rule, the drug is prescribed in combination with a small dose of prednisone. In this case, the daily dosage of Abirakast will be 1 gram (i.e. the patient will need to drink 4 tablets at a time). Taking the medicine is required one hour before a meal, or at least 2 hours after it. The drug should not be taken at the same time as a meal.
The tablet should not be chewed, crumbled or diluted in water. It is necessary to swallow it whole, drinking plenty of clean drinking water.
The exact dosage of Abirakast is prescribed to each patient only by the attending physician. You cannot consume and measure the dose yourself. This threatens either a severe overdose or the occurrence of concomitant diseases.
If the patient missed taking the pill, the standard dosage should be taken the next day, without increasing it.
